Student Recital, November 12, 2017
All students of OMTA member teachers are eligible to perform in one of the annual recitals held at the Akron Public Library auditorium.
Performers and audience alike enjoy the sounds of the beautiful Steinway concert grand piano. Two recitals are scheduled at 1:30 and 3pm. Registration forms are are available on the student recital page of the website, and emailed to member teachers in late summer. Students from elementary to advanced levels are eligible to participate.
Our annual Duet Festival is a unique three-part afternoon with something for everyone! We begin with a recital of intermediate level student duet teams, three of which are then chosen by the festival committee to participate in a master class with our guest artists. The master classes have proven to be an enlightening experience for all the students as well as their teachers, parents, and grandparents! (We even provide music related coloring activities for younger siblings.) A wonderful guest artist performance and refreshments round out the afternoon. All this in one event - don't miss it!
The OMTA Ribbon Festival will be held March 4-5 at selected locations throughout the Akron area. Participating students are invited to carefully prepare one solo representative of their current level of study (4 minutes maximum performance time). The piece is played from memory for a qualified judge. In addition to the valuable written critique of the performance, the student receives a colorful ribbon identifying the number of years of participation in the Festival.
With 14 years of ribbons to earn, even young beginners are encouraged to participate!
The High School Gala is a formal evening event for high school juniors and seniors of OMTA teachers. We recognize each student's accomplishments with a printed bio, a gift from Western Reserve OMTA, and an upscale reception for family and friends!
